  • Ice Cream Social and Open House

We're excited to be starting a new school year and want to extend a special welcome our new families!

Be sure to add the following events to your calendar:

    New Family Ice Cream Social

Our ice cream social for new families will be held on Thursday, August 22, from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m.  All new families will also receive a separate invitation via postal mail.

    Open House

All PS-8 parents and students are invited to our Open House on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 7:15 - 8:00 p.m. to see the school and visit teachers.

  • All-school Chapel

    Monday, August 26       10:50 a.m.

Please join us on the first day of school for our first all-school chapel.  Pastors have been invited to this chapel also.

  • Parent Back to School Night

    Tuesday, August 27         7:00 .m.

Parents are invited to visit classrooms, meet the teachers, and learn about our goals and expectations for your children.  The evening begins in the gym.

We will discuss this year's school theme and give an update on Teaching for Transformation (TfT).    We'll also be sharing information about  the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) regulations and the safeguards MCS has in place to keep your child safe on the internet.   There will be a time for questions after the presentation.

  • Reporting a Student Absence

If your child will be absent or late for school, please make sure a parent calls the office at 616-877-4688 each day prior to 7:30 a.m.

Please DO NOT email the teacher or the office regarding absences.

Teachers are preparing for the day before school begins and may not have time to look at emails prior to the start of school.  A student may not report an absence for a sibling or any other student.

  • School year times for Y5 - Grade 8

The first bell will ring at 8:05 a.m., and students should already be at school  getting ready to enter the classroom (or exiting the playground).  The second bell will ring at 8:10 a.m., at which time all students should be in their classroom in order to avoid being tardy.

Young Fives will dismiss at 11:10 a.m.  Please remember that other than half days of school (when we dismiss at 11:30 a.m.), there is no busing for Young Fives students at 11:10 a.m.  Any Young Fives students who ride Moline's buses will also be taken home on half days.
